13. Pop tarts

The first Pop Tarts arrived on our breakfast tables in the UK in the 1990s and, boy, did they make a big impact! They're convenient, tasty, and fun, but that's all there is to them. These delicious all-in-one breakfasts are filled with processed white flour, artificial colors and sugar. We may crave a nostalgic look back at our childhood when we didn't have to worry about the dangers of sugar at breakfast as adults. However, we should rarely eat Pop Tarts for breakfast (or give them to our children). Starting the day with so much sugar will inevitably give us that high-octane sugar rush, followed by an even more inevitable crash, leaving us lethargic and foggy with the desire for another sugar fix. As a result, we tend to make unhealthy choices throughout the day. Weight gain and blood sugar levels can be caused by eating a diet high in sugar, which can lead to more negative consequences in the future. Therefore, save fun, artificially colored and sweet breakfast ideas for a rare treat (which lacks many other nutrients beneficial to our health).
