Let's talk donuts. Deliciously sweet, sweet and jammy donuts. It's great, isn't it? But you don't need us to tell you that they're not a good breakfast choice. Aside from being high in saturated fat and sugar (donuts are fried, in case you didn't know!), and quite low in healthy foods like fiber and vitamins, donuts are definitely a treat. The problem is that they are sold in cafes, and when do we tend to go there the most? Breakfast! They're sitting there, looking so beautiful and round and donut-shaped, beckoning us through the glass. We may decide to eat a donut instead of yogurt and granola if we are feeling particularly tired, stressed, or emotional. Instead of keeping us full until lunchtime, we'll hit that familiar sugary high after eating a donut, then crash when our blood sugar levels drop again soon after. Disastrous for our healthy diets. Be sure to treat yourself to these treats occasionally. Lunch time seems to last for hours and we grab a chocolate bar to keep going. Disastrous for our healthy diets.
