The best meal of the day is breakfast. We've all heard this saying, and for good reason. Breakfast is our chance to rebuild our body's energy after sleeping for 10 hours and fasting overnight.
Choosing the right breakfast can increase our energy levels, concentration and productivity, allowing us to tackle the day!
Alternatively, making the wrong breakfast choices may give us a quick boost, but leaves us feeling sluggish at lunch. We may even be tempted to make other poor food choices throughout the day.
You'll be shocked by some of them, especially number 15 on our list of the 15 worst breakfast foods.
1. Sugary, Highly Refined Cereals

Despite the horribly high sugar content of children's cereals in colorful boxes, breakfast cereals marketed as "healthy" choices that are also high in sugar are more dangerous.
We love breakfast cereal. These are easy, healthy and nutritious ways to fuel up in the morning, ready to start the day. But only if they're made from whole grains and don't contain added sugar.
Sugar is commonly added to puffed rice, honey-coated nuts, and frosted cereals (either major brands or supermarket brand equivalents).
You will only be able to maintain your energy levels for a very short period of time if you start your day with too much sugar. Our sugary hit will leave us hungry very quickly, and we might reach for another unhealthy choice soon after it has been digested.
Be sure to check the nutritional values and make sure there are no added sugars. Choose cereals that are whole grain and high in fiber to keep you full until lunchtime. Avoid microwaveable porridges which can often contain hidden sweet syrups to add flavor. Choose grated whole wheat cereals, uncoated cornflakes and traditional oatmeal.
